Classic Walking programme details
On these holidays there is a choice of two guided walks for varying abilities each day. For maximum choice we offer two weekly itineraries - ideal if you wish to book a 14-night holiday or return for a second visit. Holidays before 6 June offer walks from both itineraries to suit lifts and snow conditions.
ITINERARY ONE
Weeks of 19 June; 3, 17, 31 July; 14, 28 August; 11 September 2010
Day 1: arrival day
Day 2: ascend the Penken gondola for panoramic walks through high Alpine meadows above Mayrhofen.
Day 3: enjoy a circular walk from the pretty Alpine village of Brandberg or an ascent to the rocky summit of Karspitze.
Day 4: wander along the gentle Tux Valley to Lanersbach or enjoy a spectacular high level traverse to the Plauener Hut.
Day 5: free day - perhaps take the narrow gauge steam railway to the Achensee lake.
Day 6: follow beautiful riverside paths in the Upper Ziller Valley or ascend to the high Brandberger col.
Day 7: walk around the dramatically located Schlegeis reservoir, or follow the superb Berliner Hohenweg path.
Day 8: departure day
ITINERARY TWO
Weeks of 26 June; 10, 24 July; 7, 21 August; 4 September 2010
Day 1: arrival day
Day 2: take the Ahorn cable-car to the high pastures above Mayrhofen, maybe continuing to the summit of the Torregenkopf.
Day 3: enjoy breathtaking mountain scenery near the Schlegeis reservoir on walks towards the Italian border.
Day 4: admire the stunning mountain panoramas on walks above the Ziller Valley to Brandberg, and perhaps to the top of the Gerlossteinwand.
Day 5: free day - perhaps visit the Krimml waterfalls or the historic city of Innsbruck.
Day 6: walk in the Zemmbach Valley, either on gentle woodland paths or above on a magnificent high level traverse.
Day 7: wander through meadows to the Devil's Bridge at Finkenberg or ascend the mighty summit of the Grüblspitz.
Day 8: departure day
Footpath information
Easier Walks: 5 to 7½ miles on good paths through valleys, woodland and high meadows. 600ft to 1,200ft of ascent in a day.
Harder Walks: 5½ to 10 miles with some steep and rough ascents to summits and cols. 1,500ft to 3,100ft of ascent in a day. |
