Choose the option which best suits your interests and fitness
We provide flexible holidays; take an Easier Walk one day and switch to a Harder Walk the next, or choose to explore the Cotswolds independently
We offer a social activity each evening
Half-Day Walks:
Less than 4 miles and 350ft of ascent on good paths.
At a leisurely pace these walks finish after a picnic lunch.
Highlights include:
A visit to Chedworth Roman Villa and feeding the trout in the River Coln at Bibury
Walk along part of the Cotswold Way to Broadway, considered by many to be the jewel in the Cotswolds’ crown
Visit Sudely Castle on the approach to Winchcombe
These half-day walks are offered on holidays starting on 22 May, 26 June, 24 July, 14 Aug, 25 Sept
Easier Walks:
5 to 7 miles with easy gradients.
Up to 1,000ft of ascent in a day.
Highlights include:
Walking from Bourton-on-the-Water through the meadows to the chocolate-box villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter
Wander along the delightful valley of the River Windrush
Visit the picturesque market towns such as Stow-on-the-Wold, whose golden stone houses so epitomise the area
Medium Walks:
7 to 9 miles on well graded paths.
Up to 1,250ft of ascent in a day.
Highlights include:
Sample all the elements of the enchanting Cotswold landscape by walking over gentle undulating green hills, past historic hamlets and churches to Broadway, perhaps the most picturesque of all the Cotswold villages
Soak up the panoramic views as we cross the gently undulating hills to the fascinating town of Chipping Campden
Harder Walks:
9½ to 11½ miles with gently undulating gradients.
Up to 1,650ft of ascent.
Highlights include:
Trace the route of King Charles II’s escape from the Battle of Worcester along the ‘Monarch’s Way’, or walk over Ilmington Down to Chipping Campden
Other walks take us down the limestone escarpment to Winchcombe or to the Roman town of Cirencester
Local transport
On some days the walks start and finish at our Country House, Harrington House. On other days you’ll be transported to other parts of the Cotswolds. The cost of all transport to and from the walks is included in the price of your holiday. |

For guests travelling from overseas, the main London airports offer the best onward connections. See www.nationalrail.co.uk for details on travelling from these airports by train.
From London Heathrow take the Heathrow Express (faster but expensive) or the Heathrow Connect train (slower but cheaper) to London Paddington station. Direct trains run from here to Moreton-in-Marsh. Total journey time to Moreton-in-Marsh is around 2¼ hours.
From Gatwick Airport take a train to Reading, then change here for a mainline train to Moreton-in-Marsh. Total journey time to Moreton-in-Marsh is around 3 hours. |
